Practice Principles

The Vision for Learning

The new vision for learning and the nine practice principles for excellence in teaching and learning will help teachers and school leaders to consider:

  • what school communities and teachers value
  • the beliefs about learning that underpin practice
  • how current practice helps to achieve what is valued
  • how new practices will help to achieve what we value.

All students are empowered to learn and achieve, experiencing high quality teacher practice and the best conditions for learning which equip them with the knowledge, skills and dispositions for lifelong learning and shaping the world around them.

Our vision for learning draws our focus to the core values and beliefs at the centre of teaching and learning. For leaders and teachers in Victorian schools it provides a starting point for a close analysis of professional practice.
