Chelsea Primary School Community,
Welcome to a new and exciting school year! I hope you all had a restful and enjoyable break and are ready for another fantastic year of learning, growth, and connection.
Our students have settled into their new classrooms and learning spaces, and it's been a vibrant and engaging first week of school. Well done to our new preps, who have successfully transitioned into school life at CPS.
At Chelsea Primary School, we remain committed to providing a safe, supportive, and engaging learning environment where students are encouraged to reach their full potential. With our strong focus on evidence-based teaching, the SWPB (School-wide Positive Behaviour) framework, and professional learning communities, we will continue to build on the successes of previous years.
This year, we look forward to:
Welcoming new students, families, and staff into our wonderful school community
I encourage all families to stay connected with our school through newsletters, Class Dojo, and community events. Your partnership and support are invaluable in creating the best learning environment for our students.
Let's make 2025 a year of inspiration, achievement, and joy!
Warm regards,
Taylor Irish

STUDENT ACCIDENT INSURANCE
The Department of Education does not provide personal accident insurance or ambulance cover for students.
Parents and guardians of students, who do not have student accident insurance and ambulance cover, are responsible for paying the cost of medical treatment for injured students, including the cost of ambulance attendance/transport and any other transport costs.
Student accident insurance/ambulance cover policies are available from some commercial insurers and can be obtained by parents/guardians for individual students.
School Safety Message Road Crossings, Bikes & Scooters
Safety is our top priority, and we ask for your support in ensuring all students follow these important guidelines, especially our new prep students who are learning these safety rules.
Parents and guardians, please remind children to be extra cautious when near roads.
Scooter & Bike Safety in the School Yard
To prevent accidents, scooters and bikes must not be ridden inside the school grounds. Students should dismount and walk their scooters and bikes once they reach the school gates. Please store scooters and bikes safely in the designated area during school hours. The new bike shed will be open hopefully within the next few weeks.
By following these simple rules, we can keep everyone safe. Thank you for your cooperation and for helping us create a safe environment for all students.
Exciting News: Open Streets is at Chelsea Primary School
We’re thrilled to announce that Chelsea Primary School is hosting Open Streets in collaboration with the City of Kingston. This will be on Friday 7, 14, and 21 February 2025.
On these days, Fowler Street (between Argyle Avenue and Glenola Road) will be closed and transformed into a safe, traffic-free space from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
All families are welcome to come during the morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up times, stay, play, and enjoy the space.
In the morning, there will be a Coffee van for parents and carers, and the afternoon will be full of activities for everyone to enjoy.
We encourage everyone to ride, walk, scoot, or “park and stride” to school and experience the joy of an open, safe, and welcoming street environment.
What is Open Streets?
This initiative limits traffic around our school gates and creates a vibrant and safe environment for students and families to walk, cycle, or scoot. It’s a wonderful way to reduce congestion, improve safety, and foster a stronger community connection.
