ASSEMBLY-BROUGHT TO YOU EVERY FORTNIGHT!

Last week our School Captains and Vice Captains led their first assembly on line (hopefully we will be able to do it on site very soon) Will, Matilda, Adele and Jack did a wonderful job and we know they will lead our school with great pride. Well done leaders.

Other leadership roles are now being confirmed as we go to press. We can’t wait to see our Student Voice and Agency in action around the school.

TUTOR PROGRAM

There has been a great deal of discussion, news and headlines regarding the tutor initiative that has been brought into government schools as part of COVID-19 support. Chelsea Primary School began the recruitment process for this initiative in 2020.

We are delighted to have appointed Nikki Morecroft and Rebecca Cole to the tutor program for this year.

The tutor program will assist and support students with various needs throughout 2021.  Parents have been if their child is being provided additional tutor support or intervention.

SCHOOL COLOUR RUN-THURSDAY 25th MARCH-SAVE THE DATE!

Time to get your running shoes on for the 2021 Chelsea PS Colour Run! On Thursday 25th March at 4pm be prepared for our students to run wild through the inflatable colour run course!

Proceeds from the Colour Run will go towards improving our bike shed and Glenola road sport field.

Information and sponsorship forms have been sent home to families this week and incredibly we have already raised $2 757.00 from only 29 students registered! How fantastic!

This is a major fundraiser for the year ….so sign up to join in the fun!

What an afternoon it will be!

ROAD SAFETY AT CHELSEA PRIMARY

Parents are reminded that there are strict parking restrictions around the school and these will be enforced by Kingston Council.  It is suggested that parents walk to and from school with their children or park a little further away and walk down to the school. This will help to reduce the congestion around the school. The ’Kiss and Go’ zone in Fowler street is still in place.  Parents are reminded that they cannot leave their car if they pull up in these areas.  If you wish to walk your child to the school gate or classroom, please do not use the ‘Kiss and Go’ areas.

To support road safety, please also only park in the disabled zone if you have a sticker/tag, cross on marked crossings, in particular the Glenola road crossing.  The Kinder carpark is only for Chelsea staff and Chelsea Kindergarten.

Parents are currently permitted to park on the Glenola road block, however we are in conversation with Kingston traffic management regarding road congestion and community safety. We will continue to keep you updated.

Whilst we understand these arrangements are not always convenient, we thank you for your support and cooperation with this.

BIKE AND SCOOTER RIDING TO AND FROM SCHOOL

We have had some concerns from the public in relation to student safety whilst riding. We are asking students when exiting the school grounds at the bike shed and moving along towards Barbara’s Fowler street crossing, that their bikes and scooters are walked along the fence line….keeping to the left and allowing pedestrians to pass.

FUNTIME LUNCHTIME IS BACK

Our Funtime Lunchtime program provides opportunities to engage our students in extracurricular activities at lunchtime.   Throughout the year, there will be a variety of lunchtime activities provided by staff for students to be involved.   Some of these activities have begun including Year 3-6 choir, Chill Out Room, the Art Room, Sport borrowing and Creative Play in the sand pits.  Mr. Rundell is currently forming the 5/6 band and student led ‘Dance Club’ is in the planning stages.
