Our sneak peek of many of the acts shows what an exciting afternoon and evening of entertainment is in store for us.
The photo booth will be in full swing on Monday and Tuesday next week, where Mr Pipella and team will snap some amazing photos of our students.
African animals, robots, flower children, sportspeople and Egyptian pharaohs will steal the show.

Thank you to our teachers and parents for their time to making this great lunchtime opportunities happen.
BOOK WEEK
What a fabulous week we’ve had celebrating Book Week. Our guest author-Nicki Greenburg’s visit last week and fantastic writing and art activities were highlights throughout the week. Our classes have spent time sharing the Book Week winning books and continuing to complete the Premier’s Reading Challenge. (We’re nearly there!)
Our Dress up parade today saw our school filled with characters including-Things, Where’s Wallys, witches, princesses, Superheroes, Belles, fairies, Harry Potters, Hermiones, onesie characters and a few very strange looking teachers!
Thank you to everyone for their amazing efforts dressing up and to our families for coming along and joining in the fun.
2023 CLASSES
It would be helpful if any family intending to leave our school community in 2023 due to relocation or another reason, advises us as soon as possible. A phone call to the office or an email to the school would be most appreciated. This information is very important for future planning purposes for class structures and school staffing for 2023.
PREP ENROLMENTS
While we believe we have most of our sibling enrolments for 2023, if you are a current family of Chelsea PS and have a child commencing school next year, please complete the enrolment process as soon as possible, as we are now progressing towards our comprehensive transition to school program.
PARENT OPINION SURVEY
Many families will receive an email with information regarding our Parent Opinion Survey. This annual survey is administered by the Department of Education and provides us with wonderful insight as to the experiences of you, our parents and carers, of your child’s education, quality of teaching and learning, school environment and more. We encourage you to take the time to complete it as the data is greatly valued and certainly influences our decision-making based on what it tells us we need to keep doing and what we need to focus more intently on or do differently. Thank you in advance for taking the time to complete it.
RAT TESTS
Student RAT tests will be sent home today.
SMILE SQUAD DENTAL PACKS
Smile Squad is a Victorian Government program that offers free dental care to all Victorian government school students.
The friendly Smile Squad dental team visits schools to provide a free annual dental health examination and free follow-up treatment as needed.
Smile Squad is free for all students at Victorian government schools. This program does not include cosmetic treatment.
Smile Squad will visit Chelsea PS in term 1 2023. In the meantime, a dental pack will be sent home today.
On Friday 19th August the preps went to the Big Goose. They were greeted by gaggles of geese and the Billy Goat Gruff. Shortly after some snacks were inhaled, preps were split into their groups and the adventures began!
A pirate playground, the kelpie dog show and feeding baby kangaroos were certainly the highlights but we also learnt about life on a farm, safe handling of reptiles and guinea pigs and various eggs.
We walked the entire day and laughed along the way. It was an incredible experience and a memorable day to say the least – a few preps shut their eyes on the bus ride home and then we called it a day. Thank you to the parent volunteers that assisted us on this program. Your help is always appreciated.
Justine, Bianca and Matthew.
Literacy
This term in literacy we have enjoyed our class novel, ‘Matilda’. This book contained wonderful examples of figurative language and visualisation. We have seen some great examples of these literary in the children’s’ work. Our writing this term has been information reports. We have utilised our ICT resources and the children are creating a PowerPoint on an animal of their choice. The task involves research and the technical construction of an entertaining and visually appealing presentation.
Numeracy
Term 3 has seen the children tackle fractions, decimals and percentages, in parallel with measurement. There was wonderful growth across the entire cohort. Currently our focus is on Geometric shapes and transformation. We have some hands on 3D creating activities coming up.
Inquiry
Our science focus in inquiry has seen the middle school students engage with biological science, including the classification and lifecycle of animals.
Our Twisted Science excursion gave a chance for the kids to engage with physical and chemical science activities. It was an awesome day out.
Production
All are busy compiling costumes and props for their grade act. The kids are polishing up their performance with regular rehearsal in Music class.
Camp
Our up and coming Camp Rumbug is set in the foothills of the Strzelecki ranges. Steep hills and magical rainforest create an adventure like nowhere else. At night we will enjoy the stars around the campfire, giving us a feeling that we a miles away from anywhere. Most of the adventure activities are set into the cool temperate rainforest that characterises the Rumbug experience.
Regards
Middle school team.
It’s that time of the year, which we are bringing back the Chelsea School Production! It’s in full force and so many parts are moving to make this happen. So much we wish to share and present, but we don’t want to spoil all the surprises that Chelsea and the community have been working on.
This year’s concert will be ‘Where in the World is Chelsea’s Chalice’, an original story which follows two detectives attempting to track down the world-renowned thief: Wiley Weasel! This conniving criminal has stolen Chelsea Primary School’s precious chalice. It’s up to the detectives to travel the world to restore it to their original place and apprehend the criminal! Many hijinks and musical numbers will occur on their journey for your viewing pleasure.
So many staff, parents and people in the community have been working hard on making the costumes and props look phenomenal, students have been rehearsing their dances and singing, with the Grade 6s also acting! Coming up is our fantastic photoshoots on the 29th and 30th of August with our very own Mr. Pipella, so be sure to check Dojo and updates from your classroom teachers regarding this. Tickets are up and available for purchasing to see the amazing show on the 15th of September, both Matinee at 12:00 and Evening show at 6:30pm at Chelsea Hall. They are going quick so be sure to grab them while there’s still some left, you can use this link if you are interested:https://www.trybooking.com/events/landing?eid=949397&
All of this wouldn’t have been possible with everyone’s effort. The students are pumped and so excited to bring back the magic after so many years. Here is just a glimpse of some of the work and effort they’ve put in. Hope to see you there!
