WHAT A FABULOUS YEAR AT CHELSEA PRIMARY!
We cannot believe how fast this year has gone! What another fantastic year it’s been at Chelsea Primary School.
We are so fortunate have such wonderful students, staff and community who all help make Chelsea PS such a special place.
The success of Chelsea PS just doesn’t happen by chance – it stems from the collaboration and community spirit that is created when students, staff and parents come together on a shared journey. We would therefore like to thank all members of our school community-School Council and sub committees, our kitchen gardeners, production supporters, cake bakers, working bee-ers, sausage sizzlers, maintenance folk, book sellers and parent classroom helpers, for their inspiration and support to make our school such a success during 2022! Special thanks to our ‘awesome foursome’ fundraising team-Sarah, Mel, Donna and Pennie. Your on-going energy, creativity and enthusiasm has raised incredible funds which will provide significant improvements to our school environment. The Spring Festival and Colour Run were highlights of the year!
We especially would like to acknowledge our amazing teaching staff for their commitment to building such high impact learning programs and the passion they have in supporting students’ academic, creative and wellbeing experiences.
Thank you to the Administration team (the A-Team) -Jacky Russell, Ledam N. and Tania Alford for ensuring our accountabilities are met, our visitors are greeted with a smiling face and operations run smoothly every day.
To our dynamic education support team, thank you for the amazing assistance you provide in classrooms and intervention programs for students; as well as helping in sick bay, Breakfast Club, yard supervision and lunchtime programs. We all appreciate the love, guidance and support you bring to your role.
We would like to thank Margaret, and Barbara (our crossing ladies), for keeping our students safe as they cross the road to school. (always with a smile).
To all our year 6 students who are leaving Chelsea PS, we wish you all the best in the next chapter of your schooling. You have grown into a mature and responsible group of young people. It has been great getting to know you all. Wednesday night’s graduation was a brilliant celebration of your years at primary school. We all look forward to your return visit early next year.
We can imagine many Year 6 parents who remember dropping their child off on their very first day of Primary School and now you are very close to seeing them move onto their next school chapter. There is a lot of reflection, celebration (and some tears) and memories they will never forget. Thank you to our Year 6 families for their support over their years at Chelsea.
To our Year 6 families who have their last child leaving our school, we wish you all the very best and thank you for entrusting us with your children over the years.
At graduation the following students received awards-Congratulations!

2023 will be an exciting year for all. Our new building project will begin at the start of the year. There will be a few changes around the grounds and classrooms, but by the end of the year we can all come together and celebrate the ‘Grand Opening.’
We wish everyone a safe and Merry Christmas and a relaxing holiday period and look forward to catching up with all your news on Monday the 30thJanuary 2023.
Kindest Regards
Taylor and Jan
At the beginning of December, each grade was surprised by special visitors – an elf from the North Pole. FG, FI and FP have named their elves and get excited daily by the different mischief the elves get up to. The preps had a great time on their step up days and loved meeting their new teacher and peers.
Kai – I liked that we got to go upstairs and see our new classroom!
Izzy – I liked colouring in the all about you activity
Laila – I liked seeing all my friends and my new teacher
Dash – I liked listening to my teacher read ‘Do Not Open This Book’!
Last week, the preps made Christmas reindeer cookies and wrote a step by step procedure about how to make them. This week is going to be jam packed full of fun Christmas activities and Life Saving on Tuesday. We are so proud of all the preps and their accomplishments this year.
Love, the Prep team
We cannot believe that this is our last week left with the grade ones and twos! The progress they have made this year is astonishing and we couldn’t be prouder of them.
We have had an extremely BUSY term, where do we begin?!
We have all been organising assessment and end of year. Numeracy results in particular speak for themselves with Grade 1 PAT maths results showing 40% of the cohort working one year above the expected level. This really does show how active their learning has been this year.
Last week we had our Christmas carols night which was such a fantastic opportunity for all families to come together and enjoy some food whilst watching students and teachers sing.
What a way to get into the Christmas spirit!
We have also had our step up and transition days which were great opportunities for students and teachers, giving us a quick glimpse into the future of 2023.
Grade 2 students had their Camp Preparation incursion with lots of fun and enjoyable team building exercises. Students absolutely loved practicing their team building skills by guiding each other through different exercises.
This week we had the fantastic privilege of attending our Life Saving day on Tuesday. Students were immersed in a theoretical component and a practical component. For the theoretical component, students attended a marine biologist session to learn all about dolphins and how important our sea life is. They also attended a mini first aid session which gave us lots of important facts about serious injuries and not so serious injuries. For the rest of the afternoon we had lots of beach games on the sand and indoors and despite the weather we all survived and had a fantastic time!
We hope you have a JOYFUL, safe and amazing Christmas break and can’t wait to see you all back, fresh and bright eyed for 2023.
The Junior Team,
Miss Stokely, Mrs Stansfield, Miss Culshaw, Miss Hamper & Mrs Hulse
Hi Parents of Middle School students. We’ve made it through to the end of the year! The 3/4 team would like to thank you for all your support throughout this year; our first uninterrupted year since the pandemic began all those years ago.
Term four included some great events which included Life Saving, Year 4 Tennis Clinic, Colour Fun Run, Christmas Concert, and of course- School Camp. The teachers and support staff who had the privilege of attending camp with your kids would like to remind you of how awesome they were.
We say Goodbye to Miss A as she follows the year 4 kids into year 5, and we welcome Mrs Gallo for 2023. Thank you for a wonderful year, and our team wishes you the very happiest of times during your break.
Don’t forget to scroll back through our class DOJO to relive the pictures and video celebrations of our 2022 year.
Merry Christmas everyone.

And, that’s a wrap! What a last day. What a term. What a year!
This term alone we’ve graduated, celebrated Big Day’s Out and In, survived Camp, STOMP’ed, Transitioned to Secondary School and Grade 6, shared our fears and excitements with the Kingston Youth Team, Colour Fun Runned, Life Saved, Yacht-ed AND SO MUCH MORE!!!
From Miss Lawrence, Ms Whiteside, Mr Pipella and I, a massive thank you to our parent and carer community. You make us better teachers with your support and we’ve loved teaching and learning alongside your children this year.
Have a safe and merry festive season from all of us.

Happy Holidays everyone and hope you’re all looking forward to a well-deserved break.
In the Performing Arts space we worked quite extensively to bring back a long-held tradition of “Chelsea Carols”! We rehearsed, sang and dance for each of the class songs and the students shined so brightly that evening. On the 7th of December, Chelsea Primary School and the community came together to present various holiday songs, coming from our classes, school bands, our choir ‘The C Majors’ and even a surprise from the staff.
It was a brilliant evening and happy to tie off the year with such a celebration. Proud of all the students who stepped up onto stage and gave their all while performing.
Until 2023, rest well and have a brilliant Summer.
Regards,
Lachlan Rundell – Performing Arts Teacher.
