To our Chelsea Community,  

On behalf of the CPS staff, I would like to thank you for a fantastic 2023 at Chelsea Primary School.    

As a community, we have all experienced some fantastic times during 2023. Our teaching staff have been able to focus their energy and time on what they do best: teaching; our students have flourished this year gaining some much academic, social and emotional development and growth.  

As is the case every year there are many, many highlights. Some of these include:  

• Our wonderful Colour Fun Run where we exceeded our fundraising target 
• The whole school production where we toured through different movies over time 
• Watching our students shine up at assembly during our ‘Star Performers’ or during our ‘Chelsea’s Got Talent’ show 
• The wonderful sporting achievements of so many 
• The special days we have had including Korean Day this term 
• Seeing our students develop their independence through camp experiences 
• Our annual Christmas Carols event 
• Beach days such as Lifesaving and Sailing 
• Graduation 
• Book Week 
• Harmony Day celebrations 
• Dyslexia awareness week 

Our new building is looking nearer to completion every day. It will be amazing to have our arts classes move into this space, and for our physical education program to have a wet weather option. Stay tuned for an open in early 2024! 

It is with sadness that we say goodbye to two of our staff members this year. We farewell Mrs Anna Smith, 5P’s teacher, who is going to Cheltenham East Primary School. We farewell Rochelle, one of our Education Support staff, who is going to start her teaching career at Frankston Heights. Both have been valued members of our community and we will miss them. We thank them for their contribution to CPS. 

Chelsea Primary School thrives with parent support. Thank you to all our parents who were classroom helpers, book fair organisers, members of the School Council, attended working bees, and sausage sizzles, and supported our production by organising costumes, dances and photographs.  Those who attended and helped out at excursions and camps, helped at the school discos, collated the school newsletter, and supported the school dress-up days and fundraisers. One highlight was the Colour Run. A big thank you to Donna and her team of helpers. The hours you all put into this event were enormous, and your commitment to our school is very much appreciated.  

We wish to farewell all of those families who are leaving us in 2023, whether that is because they have seen their last child through to Grade Six, or because they are moving elsewhere. We farewell the following families: 

Bradford, Brown, Byrt, Finnegan/Symington, Gill, Gladstone, Exton, Hawasi, Henderson, Hosking, Lake-O’Brien, Makin, McLennan, Nicholson, Northam, Parker-Ryan, Pasnin, Pool, Simmons, Smith, Smith, Snodgrass, Tran, Waneck, Williamson and Wilson. 

We farewell and congratulate our Class of 2023 as they move onto the next phase of their learning journey. We know that they will take the Chelsea values of respect, responsibility, resilience and relationships with them as they begin secondary school. We know they have been set up well to succeed in whatever they put their minds to. We can’t wait to hear about how they go and to see them pop back in and visit us. 

Lastly, we wish you all the very best as you hopefully take a break and enjoy time with family and friends. We will see you back at CPS on Tuesday 30 January, 2024!
