Positive Classroom Management Strategies
At Chelsea Primary School, we are committed to creating a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment where every child can thrive.

Our approach to behaviour is proactive and based on the Department of Education’s School-Wide Positive Behaviour Support (SWPBS) framework. This means we teach, model, and reinforce positive behaviours across all areas of the school — from the classroom to the playground.

We focus on universal support strategies that benefit every student. These include:

  • Clear school-wide expectations: Be Respectful, Be a Learner, Be Safe.

  • Consistent routines and explicit instructions for expected behaviours.

  • Positive reinforcement through our award system and whole-school acknowledgements.

  • Daily social-emotional check-ins, including circle time and wellbeing prompts.

  • A calm, consistent learning environment that reduces uncertainty and promotes self-regulation.

We believe that every child has the right to learn — and every teacher has the right to teach — in a setting that is structured, supportive, and inclusive.
