Term 1: 28th Jan (students start 29th Jan) to 4th April

Each year government schools are provided with four student-free days for professional development, school planning and administration, curriculum development, and student assessment and reporting purposes.
The first day of Term 1 is a student-free day in all government schools to allow for appropriate planning to take place for the arrival of students. The remaining three student-free days are determined by each individual school.
On the last day of Terms 1, 2 and 3, school finishes at 2.30pm
On the last day of Term 4, school finishes at 1.00pm
Before & After School Yard Supervision — Parent / Carer Notice

Before School: 8:45 am – 9:00 am

After School: 3:30 pm – 3:45 pm
Supervision Arrangements

School staff will provide yard-duty supervision during the times above.

Outside of these times, students will not be supervised unless they are attending a scheduled, supervised activity (e.g. before/after school care, school program, or organised extracurricular activity).

If a student arrives before 8:45 am or remains on school grounds after 3:45 pm without appropriate supervision arrangements, parents/carers are advised to make alternate care arrangements.
Duty of Care & Parent/Carer Responsibility
As per the Department of Education’s “Supervision of Students” policy, Chelsea Primary School ensures appropriate supervision before and after school hours. Department of Education Victoria+1

If Supervision Commences Early or Students Are Not Collected On Time

If a student arrives before 8:45 am, staff will endeavour to contact the parent/carer to remind of supervision times and request alternate arrangements.

If a student is not collected by 3:45 pm, the school will attempt to contact parents/carers or the student’s emergency contacts. If contact cannot be made promptly, the Principal or their nominee will ensure the student’s safety until collection or further instructions.
After School Care and Supervised Activities
Where available, parents/carers may use our Outside School Hours Care (OSHC) program or other supervised before/after school activities. Students attending these programs are supervised by qualified staff beyond regular yard duty times.
